Summer is time for the children and mythical creatures to emerge from the sea.  An American photographer, Sarah Williams captured these beauties on the Oregon coast. Sarah says, “when given the opportunity to conceptualize a shoot from start to finish, I like to try to think outside of the box. For this particular shoot, I wanted to combine the beauty of these girls with the darkness of animals – in this case, the owl and deer.” The creatures seem at home on the jagged rocks, sand and driftwood of the rugged beach.

Julia Clark (Ryan Artists) plays the part of the owl. The tall collar of her plain white button up vintage shirt is adorned with a handmade feather neck collar and hair adornment. A skirt by Crew Cuts and shoes from Juicy Couture complete this look for a mythical creature. Lauren Clark (Ryan Artists) captures the deer, bearing a handmade crown of horns and a neckpiece of felt pieces. Lauren’s shirt is by Crew Cuts and her skirt is by Peek. Shoes from the Gap finish the look.

Sarah finishes her story with a compliment to her young models. “It’s not easy to have feathers sticking out from everywhere, or horns attached to your head, but these two girls were the real reason my vision was brought to life. Both got fully into character and just went with it. The ease of their posture, and ability to follow direction made my job easy!” Madeline Roosevelt provided hair and makeup for these images.
